During my studies in Kiel I had some clients who I worked with on a freelance basis. The yacht manufacturer Knierim Yachtbau was one of them and probably the most exciting. I took over the client from another student who was about to relocate to New Zealand.

Knierim Quality Yachts GmbH is known for their manufucturing prowess but also for computer aided composite and carbon fibre production. They've already built many exciting boats, one of them the GERMANY I, a boat for racing the America's Cup. Find some pictures I've taken in the gallery!

Knierim had both website and print tasks to do as well as some photography jobs which I mostly handed over to a fellow student from whom I learned some more about the topic.

I was mainly tasked with updating their website, which meant upgrading their portfolio of custom-built yachts. Maintenance also included upgrading and improving illustrations as well as the imagery and markup of the site. Because the website was targeting german as well as english-spoken prospective buyers, I improved the language functionality using PHP.

As a kind of side project I also created some flash presentations to be shown at the Boot fair. The print jobs were mostly about designing ads for magazines and fairs like Hanseboot or Boot.

We had a friendly relationship, thus I also had the opportunity to work on a practical study project with them. This also dealt with a website. It was concepted and built for the EL-BO Composites GmbH, which was later merged into Knierim Tooling and then Knierim Quality Yachts GmbH.
